Northwest Texas SBDC is a part of America’s SBDC’s nationwide network of nearly 1,000 Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) – the most comprehensive small business assistance network in the United States and its territories.


SBDCs are hosted by leading universities, colleges, state economic development agencies, and private partners, and funded in part by the United States Congress through a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

America's SBDC at Midland-Odessa is hosted by the University of Texas Permian Basin to provide no-cost business consulting and low-cost training to new and existing businesses. Tyler Patton is the Regional Director of the UTPB-Small Business Development Center.  Tyler is a professional executive with considerable experience in communication and marketing with a management platform that includes public relations, operations, advertising, sales, and marketing departments. His knowledge includes the inner workings of small businesses, cash flows, budgeting, and capital expenditures while providing substantial financial analysis experience. Tyler received his BBA from Hardin-Simmons University and Media Management Master Certification from Northwestern University.


Tyler is a Certified Small Business Consultant by the Association of Accredited Small Business Consultants (AASBC) and is a Certified Global Business Professional by the National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE).


Kathleen Mcneil is the Project Coordinator of the UTPB-Small Business Development Center. She is a U.S. veteran and has extensive experience maintaining high standards and services by organizing operations and procedures while controlling correspondence with clients, cities, counties, and other university departments. She manages all interactions, reporting, scheduling, procurement, and all meetings. She is our direct partner with H.R. to maintain office policies as necessary, coordinates with other departments, and manages/supports all client relationships. Also, her position requires managing personnel to ensure office efficiency in meeting client demands. 


She has a BBA in Management from the University of Texas (Permian Basin) and is currently working on her MBA through UTPB.

Danny Castro is a Bilingual Business Consultant for the UTPB-Small Business Development Center. Danny is a native Odessan. He went to Permian High School and then graduated college with a BA in Communications a UTPB. Danny has been married for 20 years and has three children, two girls, and one boy. Danny is a family man and loves to cook for his family. In his past time, Danny is licensed to food prep and makes healthy meals for people who are looking to eat healthier. Danny’s main passion is to barbeque for family and friends.  

Danny is a Certified Small Business Consultant by the Association of Accredited Small Business Consultants (AASBC).

Andrew Lujan is a Business Consultant for the UTPB-Small Business Development Center. Andrew is a native Texan, and also a recent graduate from UTPB with a BBA in Marketing. Before he became a Business Consultant, Andrew worked for a family-owned company in the Oil and Gas industry all through high school and college. Andrew has also worked with Human Theory Marketing out of Round Rock as a content creator and social media marketer. In his free time, Andrew likes to spend time with friends and family, and try new restaurants. 

Andrew is a Certified Small Business Consultant by the Association of Accredited Small Business Consultants (AASBC).
